About Me
Geetha Vonga is an accomplished and passionate Kuchipudi artist who has established a distinguished presence in the United States. As the founder of Geetha's Nrityalaya in 2017, she has created a space for nurturing talent and promoting the classical art of Kuchipudi. Alongside her artistic pursuits, Geetha successfully balances a career as an IT professional, showcasing her ability to excel in multiple disciplines with dedication and determination.
Trained under the legendary Padmasri Dr. Shobha Naidu, Geetha’s foundation in Kuchipudi is rooted in tradition and excellence. Her guru’s influence continues to shape her journey as a performer, choreographer, and nattuvangam artist, allowing her to combine technical precision with expressive storytelling, hallmarks of the Kuchipudi dance form.
Geetha's pursuit of knowledge goes beyond the dance floor. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Computer Science from Osmania University, a Master’s in Performing Arts with a major in Kuchipudi, and a Master’s in Information Technology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, USA. These academic achievements, combined with her deep training in Carnatic vocal music, enhance her versatility and depth as an artist, enabling her to bring musicality and rhythmic nuances to her performances.
Having worked with leading exponents of Indian classical dance, Geetha has had the privilege to perform on prestigious platforms across India, the United States, and internationally. Her performances blend tradition with creativity, earning her widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics. She has also actively engaged in choreographing new works, bringing a contemporary perspective to classical compositions while preserving the integrity of Kuchipudi’s rich heritage.
Geetha’s dedication to her art and her vision for the future of Kuchipudi make her a true ambassador of this classical dance form. Whether performing on global stages, leading dance workshops, or creating new choreographic works, Geetha remains committed to preserving the authenticity of Kuchipudi while adapting it to resonate with contemporary audiences.
Her journey as a performer, educator, and IT professional continues to inspire many, and she remains dedicated to the cultural exchange between her homeland of India and her community in the US, using dance as a bridge between these two worlds.
